Kline (history & ethics of engineering, Cornell Univ.; Consumers in the Country) aims to explain why the modern era is called the information age. However, his argument falls flat. For one thing, the author fails to establish that this is the information age. Many readers would agree with this statement, but the exclusion is strange given the exhaustiveness of the rest of his account.
