This follow-up to Haig-Brown's 1988 book Resistance and Renewal: Surviving the Indian Residential School tells the story of the Kamloops Indian Residential School (KIRS) in British Columbia, Canada, where generations of young First Nations students suffered abuse. In May 2021, 215 unmarked graves were discovered on the grounds of the institution, which by then had been shuttered.
