Published as books, but generally purchased by subscription, each of these titles is a digest of newspaper, magazine, and journal articles; transcripts of speeches; and excerpts from studies and reports, all of which relate to a specific social theme. Each one offers an introductory essay framing the topic at hand and five to seven chapters exploring its various aspects. With the exception of a single black-and-white photograph at the beginning of each chapter, there are no illustrations.
