The Road to Mars

By Idle, Eric

Publishers Summary:
Douglas Adams meets Kurt Vonnegut meets Isaac Asimov in this wildly inventive and hilarious science-fiction thriller about life on the interplanetary comedy circuit in the 24th century. In The Road to Mars our narrator is a micropaleontologist--a man who studies the evolutionary impact of the last ten minutes--investigating the works of a little-known robot comic named Carlton. Carlton researches humor (through such 20th century anachronisms as Monty Python) while traveling through space with Alex and Lewis, two comedians "on the road to Mars"--a performing circuit of mining stations and space platforms leading to the home of showbiz, Mars itself. The Road to Mars is both an entertaining romp through the galaxy and a meditation on how comedy defines what it is to be human.

The latter is traveling with the two comics as they perform in the backwater mining stations that litter the road to Mars,...Log In or Sign Up to Read More
