Gr 7-Up An outline of the causes, development, and consequences of the Great Depression in the United States. Beginning with a dramatic account of "Black Thursday," October 24, 1929, Brennan shows how unstable the economy actually was beneath its prosperous veneer and goes on to show how various groups, including farmers and unemployed veterans of World War I, were affected. A final chapter discusses whether such a crash could recur, given the hair-trigger nature of computer-based investing.
