Gr 1-4 Joining Ammon and Patrick's previous books about weddings, Christmas, and a year's activities is this story about horses and their role in daily Amish life. As an unnamed boy tells of his days, readers learn about the animals' feeding and shoeing, and the auctions where people come to purchase new ones. There's a moment of gentle humor when the new horse is named Netroy (Pennsylvania Dutch for "not Roy," the name of one of their other horses).
