Honest rat Slim is caught by Buster, a larcenous cat who tries to force Slim to help steal a chicken's jewels. Overhearing the ruckus, nice little mouse Jim investigates; the three tumble from an apartment roof. Slim and Jim land in the river, whence Slim heroically rescues Jim; the two bond over their common enthusiasm for yo-yos.
