Gr 3-5 While each of these books has a main character who has an illness or disability, the stories are about typical childhood events. The stories read easily and are illustrated with simple line drawings. All include questions and answers about the disability, problem, or disease, plus a list of where to write for more information. In Hometown Hero, asthmatic Scott participates in sports and is on the sports banquet committee. When the featured speaker cancels, Scott invites Bill, a homeless man he has met in the library who just happens to be an old local football hero, to speak.
