Happily lacking the misty-eyed musings common to many books about Irish writers, this plainly written volume covers 40 authors who lived and wrote in Dublin for at least part of their lives. Some—Maeve Binchy, Jonathan Swift, W.B. Yeats—would be expected to appear in these pages, but Lynch (Parson's Bookshop: At the Heart of Bohemian Dublin 1949–1989) also includes unexpected subjects such as the little-known Sydney, Lady Morgan (The Wild Irish Girl) and Bram Stoker, who is well known but not as an Irish writer. ...Log In or Sign Up to Read More
