It took time for comic books to make the trek to respectful mainstream recognition in terms of global commerce (as source material for blockbuster films like The Avengers and the Batman series) and art (few used the phrases graphic novel and sequential art before the late 1980s). Now, two documentaries provide historical and behind-the-scenes information to help interested laypeople to understand the medium better, plus some pleasant surprises for comics buffs.
